Human resources assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1
Human resources - Assignment Example At my previous place of work, different strategies were used to manage the human resource planning particularly identifying the skills as well as implementing certain measures to improve these skills. Basically, skills are visible in behaviours of human beings (Werner, 2007). From my previous workplace, employees were observed for certain skills during work. This constituted skills audits where the available skills were observed and the required skills to perform a certain task were also outlined. In some cases, competency testing measures were taken were the employees were given certain tasks to perform. Their performance was gauged against the required skills competencies. The skills of the employees were also identified during the job interview process. The prospective candidates were asked to narrate their experiences, competencies as well as skills. Skills audits and competency tests are useful in identifying personal, hard and transferable skills in an organization. In most cases, skills are identified through observing the employees while performing different tasks at their workplace. On the other hand, a competency test can be used to establish if the employee is competent enough to perform a certain task. The current performance is measured against the required level of performance and this helps the responsible authorities to implement effective measures that can help improve the skills of the employees. According to Robbins (1993), the employer can immensely benefit from a skills audit in that he is able to identify the skills of the employees as well as to use this knowledge to predict the changes that may be required in these skills in order to improve the performance of the employees. The skills audit is used to identify the gap between availability and requirements of the skills in the organization. This helps to design a program that can be used to

Parapsychology :: science
Parapsychology Derived from the term 'paranormal', parapsychology is the science that lies beside or beyond psychology; the field of psychology which studies those unique experiences and unknown capabilities of the human mind that suggest consciousness is capable of interacting with the physical world in ways not yet recognized by science, but not beyond science's ability to investigate. Two types of parapsychological phenomena have been described. The first and less common is pyschokinesis (PK) which is the direct influence of the human mind on the environment. In rare cases, this may involve obvious movement of objects, however most contemporary research studies PK influences on atomic or electronic processes. More commonly known is the second type of parapsychological phenomena, called extrasensory perception (ESP), which is the ability to acquire information without using the known senses. In cases when another person is involved, then it may be considered telepathy, or mind-to-mind communication. This is often common in twins, as many instance have been reported in which one twin can sense the other's thoughts or pain. When it is knowledge of just a distant place or event, then the term clairvoyance is often used. It is mainly this type of ESP which leads people to feel strongly about the existence of past lives, due to experience of deja-vous. In practice, it is often difficult to distinguish among types of ESP, thus investigators generally refer to all instances as ESP. When the information seems to be of some future event, it is called precognition. This category of ESP is also what makes fortune tellers so popular, as they claim to be able to see your future. Real life experiences that appear to involve ESP are commonly termed psychic experiences. Taken together, all of these phenomena are often called psi phenomena. Scientific interest in the subject is of relatively recent origin, beginning in 1927 when the Duke University Parapsychology Laboratory was set up under Dr. J. B. Rhine, an important figure in the advancement of parapsychology, particularly ESP. Dr. J. B. Rhine and his wife, Dr. Louisa E. Rhine, came to Duke University in 1927 to pursue studies of psychic phenomena with Professor William McDougall, chairman of the new Psychology Department. Within a few years, Dr. Rhine was conducting the groundbreaking research that demonstrated certain people had the ability to acquire information without the use of the known senses. He introduced the term extrasensory perception describe this ability and adopted the word parapsychology to distinguish his experimental approach from earlier methods of psychical research.

Introduction speech Essay
On September 30, 1993, a miracle that was unexpected happened. Iââ¬â¢m going to tell you about an amazing and wonderful person; me!! Iââ¬â¢ve known this person my entire life. Many people can consider me many things. Today Iââ¬â¢ll tell you about my daughter, Vanessa, my family, and some of my hobbies. Now let me tell you about my daughter. My daughter Vanessa Rose was born on May 13, 2005, she weighed 7 pounds, she was 20 inches long, and born at 6:15 in the morning. She is now 2 à ½ years old. I got her first name Vanessa from the little mermaid from the evil girl that took Arielââ¬â¢s voice away from her and tried to steal her prince. I got her middle name Rose from the flower. Itââ¬â¢s my favorite flower and it fit with her first name. Vanessa and I have a really close bond. We enjoy playing on her little computer, playing blocks, teaching her colors, teaching her the alphabet, and her numbers and shapes. Sheââ¬â¢s very active and loves to help clean, read books, color, and dance. Thereââ¬â¢s never a day that she sits still. My plans for Vanessa are simple, I want her to make the best out of her life, make mistakes in order to learn from them, go to school , graduate, get a career, get married, have kids, and die of a natural cause at a very old age. Now hereââ¬â¢s a little bit about my family. I live with my mom, my stepdad, my little sister, and Vanessa. My mom, Kim, and I have a strained relationship, even though Iââ¬â¢m her daughter, itââ¬â¢s very hard for her to understand that I am a mother and need to do things on my own without her help. But sheââ¬â¢s still my mom and even though I donââ¬â¢t show that I appreciate her as much as she wishes I would, I do appreciate her for everything sheââ¬â¢s done for me. My stepdad, Jim, and I have an odd relationship; even though he and my mom arenââ¬â¢t married heââ¬â¢s like another dad to me. Although my dad is still in the picture heââ¬â¢s not there for me as much as Jim is for me. I appreciate him a lot and thank him for being there for me. My little sister, Gabi, and I have a strong relationship. Iââ¬â¢m always looking out for her and she always looks out for me. I trust I can tell her a secret and she wonââ¬â¢t tell anyone else. She also can tell me secrets and she knows I wonââ¬â¢t tell anyone either. She looks up to me as a role model and she always wants to be included. Even though she may bug me at times, I still love her to death and would go to the ends of the world and back. Now Iââ¬â¢m going to tell you about some of my hobbies and what I like to do. A couple things I like to do are watch TV and movies, play on the computer, spend time with my daughter, spend time with my boyfriend, listen to music, text on my phone, and sleep. I like to watch TV and movies with my family and my boyfriend. On the computer I go on Facebook and MySpace everyday. I listen to all different types of music. What I listen to depends on the mood that Iââ¬â¢m in. My favorite TV show is Family Guy because theyââ¬â¢re really funny and my favorite characters are Stewie and Brian. My favorite movie is The Titanic because itââ¬â¢s really sad but romantic at the same time. It also shows that the worst of times can be changed into the best times of your life. In conclusion, today Iââ¬â¢ve told you about my daughter, my family, and my hobbies. Iââ¬â¢m an amazing and wonderful person. Many people can consider me many things and I hope that you can come to understand me better by hearing this.

The Declaration Of Sentiments And Resolutions, By...
For yearsââ¬â¢ women fought to gain the rights that they have today. In The Norton Reader Shorter 14th Edition there are two very powerful speeches by two completely different women who were fighting for the same cause. The Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions by Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Ain t I A Woman? 1863 By Sojourner Truth both argue for women s right to vote. While both women have similar arguments, their methods are different. Stanton s argument speaks on the legality of things, how unconstitutional it is and in some ways points to the wrong doers. On the other hand, Truth makes her argument personal, she involves her own personal experiences and questions the oppositions beliefs. Although both argument methods differ, the cause for the argument remains the same. The two authors techniques used to argue their points leaves the reader feeling both inspired and motivated to get involved with their cause. Truthââ¬â¢s use of personal experiences and her physical appe arance not only motivates readers, but also inspires them to get involved. In her 1863 speech, Truth points out how flawed the opposition s argument is and gives them proof when she starts talking about all that she has done while showing off her features. In saying: Look at me! Look at my arm! I have ploughed and planted, and gathered into barns, and no man could head me! And ainââ¬â¢t I a woman? I could work as much as and eat as much as a man-when I could get it-and bear the lash as well! And ainââ¬â¢t
